What's My Purpose?
They thought John the Baptist was the long-awaited Messiah. He was freely baptizing people and proclaiming repentance to all who passed. Jewish leaders continued to question John about his identity, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” (John 1:22) It would have been easy for John the Baptist to claim the title, but he knew who he was – and who he was not.
